The Galleria of Luca Giordano in Palazzo Medici Riccardi is one of the supreme
examples of Florentine Baroque, with its frescoed ceiling, gilded stuccoes
and on the walls large mirrors painted by Antonio Domenico Gabbiani, Bartolomeo
Bimbi and Pandolfo Reschi with putti, animals, flowers and still lifes.
The
stone intarsia - Opificio delle Pietre dure
At the museum of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure we can admire numerous examples
of still life created using semi-precious stones from the sixteenth century
on: highly colourful stone mosaic, the famous Florentine commesso, arranged
in the form of flowers, animals, plants, fruit and overflowing vases was used
to decorate furnishings, tables and precious caskets.
